Campaigns

AMSA has a strong history of activism and mobilizing around social justice movements that align with our mission. Meaningful social change often starts at the grassroots level, bringing people together to advocate for critical issues.

AIDS Advocacy Network

With the World Health Organization (WHO) and the global community committed to ending the AIDS pandemic as a public health threat by 2030, the AIDS Advocacy Network (AAN) brings together health professional students to support this mission. AAN advocates for health equity, the destigmatization of HIV, global access to medicines and other key issues aligned with the WHO’s Call to Action.

Health Care for All Campaign

AMSA believes that access to comprehensive health care is a fundamental human right. We support a publicly and progressively financed, privately delivered federal single-payer system that ensures high-quality, affordable health care for all. In the absence of such a system, we advocate for reforms that expand comprehensive coverage and access for everyone living in the United States.

Med Out the Vote Campaign

Health care is shaped not only in hospitals and homes but also in policy decisions made on Capitol Hill. Now more than ever, it is clear that health care and politics are deeply connected. That’s why we are calling on health care providers and providers-in-training across the country to raise their voices and #MedOuttheVote. We must vote, help others vote and mobilize voter participation to protect the future of health care.

AMSA Scorecard

For the past decade, a growing number of citizens, politicians and healthcare leaders have been raising concerns about conflicts of interest in medicine. These conflicts have weakened the foundation of the doctor-patient relationship, leading to a loss of confidence in the profession. Medical schools and academic medical centers have taken a leadership role in setting new ethical standards.

In 2007, the American Medical Student Association (AMSA) introduced the first Scorecard to evaluate medical school policies. Over the years, it has been updated with a rigorous and transparent methodology. All policies are anonymized and reviewed by multiple evaluators across core policy domains. Visit the methodology section of the AMSA Scorecard for full details on these domains and the rating system.
